Child Safety Standards

Effective: 24 July 2026  ·  Last updated: 24 July 2026

A Note for Us (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a small, private shared journal for people who are close. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This page sets out our standards against it, what we prohibit, and how anyone can report a concern to us.

These standards are published by A Note For Us and apply to everyone who uses the app. They exist to protect children and to meet our obligations under Google Play’s Child Safety Standards policy and applicable law.

Our commitment

We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) anywhere in A Note for Us, without exception. We act on every credible report we receive, remove offending content and accounts, and report CSAM to the relevant authorities as required by law.

What these terms mean

Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) means any content or conduct that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers children. This includes, but is not limited to, grooming, sextortion, trafficking of a child, and the solicitation, production, possession, or sharing of child sexual abuse material.

Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) means any visual or other depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. A “child” or “minor” means any person under the age of 18.

Who the app is for

A Note for Us is intended for adults and older teens who choose to share a private “Corner” with people they already know and invite. It is not directed to young children, and there is no public feed, no discovery, and no way for strangers to contact you. Content is only ever visible to the people you have invited into your Corner.

How to report a concern

If you encounter CSAE, CSAM, or any behaviour that endangers a child, please report it to us so we can act. You can reach us in two ways:

Please include as much detail as you safely can — where in the app you saw it and what happened — so we can respond quickly. Reports are treated seriously and handled with discretion.

How we respond

When we receive a credible report, we investigate promptly. Content in a Corner is encrypted, but our systems are designed so that we can access reported material to review it. Where we confirm a violation, we remove the content, suspend or permanently terminate the accounts responsible, and preserve the information needed for a lawful investigation.

Reporting to authorities

We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the appropriate authorities as required by law. For users in or connected to the United States, we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and we cooperate with law enforcement. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or law enforcement directly.

Child safety point of contact

Questions about these standards or our child safety practices can be directed to our child safety point of contact at contact [at] a-note [dot] app.

Changes to these standards

We may update these standards from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
